In recent years, there are many different kinds of human activity that generatewastewater with large quantities of ammonium. Such as the wastewater of syntheticammonia industries, uncontrolled disposal of this type of waste can cause great damage toenvironment. The ammonia nitrogen content of wastewater is unusual, the organic matterwhich the chemical oxygen demand composed by is complicated and difficult to bebiochemistry degraded, for this reason the waste water of synthetic ammonia industries isdifficult to be treated. The newly issued “discharge standard of water pollutants forammonia industry” prescribed the lower concentration of ammonia than before.In this paper, the wastewater of synthetic ammonia industries was treated, and weexplore the SBR technology for biological nitrogen removal. In synthetic ammoniaindustry, a pilot plant was built. Through the experimental research and theoretical analysis,Main results obtained in this study are as follows:(1) Test of SBR method in ammonia wastewater treatment is studied, it determinedthe operating condition of SBR method: time of entering water, aerobic, anoxic,precipitation,drainage is respectively.1.5h,9h,3h,50min,1.5h. In the stable period, theaverage removal rates of COD, NH4+-N and TN were91%,87%,83%, and it has goodnitrogen removal effect(2) The variations of DO and pH and the foundational principles of organic matterremoval, nitrification and denitrification was analyzed(3) In the twice-fed SBR with equal volume study, it determined the operatingcondition of SBR method: time of entering water, aerobic, anoxic, precipitation, drainageis respectively:0.75h,5h,0.75h,2h,4h,1.5h. In this operating condition SBR method, asthe temperature is higher than20℃, the average removal rate of NH4+-N and TN wasrespectively90%and83%, it has good nitrogen removal effect(4) Analysis of the relationship of temperature and the ratio of ammonia oxidation rateand denitrification rate relationship in SBR system, under the condition of low temperatureoperation, the ratio of ammonia oxidation rate and denitrification rate reduction. When thetemperature is low to12℃, removal rate of NH4+-N is80%, the removal rate of TNdecreased to72%.
