Theoretical And Experimental Study On Grinding Temperature In Elid Grinding Process

ELID grinding is a main technique which has been widely adapted to the ultra-precision and high effectively machining of hard and brittle materials. Grinding thermal reaction has enormous influence on surface quality and workpiece, and may reduce working life of grinding wheel. Therefore, it is very important to research grinding temperature in ELID grinding process.In this thesis, the temperature field in grinding zone in ELID grinding process is investigated through theoretical and experimental analysis, and numerical simulation, the main content of the paper concluded as following:(1) The ELID grinding temperature field had been analyzed with the analytical method firstly. The basic theory of the heat transfer was briefly introduced as a foundation of theoretical analysis; the grinding temperature had been analyzed by analyzing of grinding heat source. The grinding heat source shape factor for ELID grinding conditions was theoretical studied. The related formulas of the maximum grinding temperature in the grinding zone at different grinding heat source shape were got.(2) The grinding temperature was studied using of Finite Element Method (FEM), and by means of FEM, the SLID grinding temperature field model was got, the simulation research was carried by means of the FEM analysis software ANSYS for the ELID grinding temperature distribution. The effects of the grinding parameter were analyzed on the basis of the FEM analysis.(3) The grinding temperature measuring method and equipment was developed, and the experiments of the grinding temperature measuring were successfully carried out by using of this grinding temperature measuring method and the equipment.(4) Based on experiments of the ELID grinding, the effects of the grinding parameters and the grinding wheel properties on the ELID grinding temperature were analyzed by the FEM and experiments.(5) The ELID grinding mechanism was studied based on the grinding temperature analysis,it will be helpful for the ELID grinding application and more development.
