The collection non-classified of municipal solid waste (MSW) in China, which has complex composition, low calorific value and high moisture and degradable organic, brings a great many of difficulties in handing them. A lot researches demonstrate that the co-firing of MSW and coal can reduce the greenhouse effect and pollutant emission such as dioxin and some acid gas, meanwhile can reduce coal consumption. The effect of co-firing to the combustion system and the economic characteristics are introduced, analyzing various pollutants discharge and slagging characteristics. After then, the existing problems in co-firing process are summarized in this paper. The fuel proportioning ratio of mixed fuel in co-firing of municipal solid waste(MSW) and coal is always fuzzy and has experimental limitations. A large fuel proportioning ratio range is always confirmed by several experimental with fixed fuel proportioning ratio. The variable composition of MSW brings difficulties in practical application. Because of this, a method used fuzzy comprehensive evaluation theory on the co-firing of MSW and coal is proposed to get the best fuel proportioning ratio in this paper. Considering the characteristics of combustion, pollutant emission and economical efficiency, based on the experimental value, we get the best proportioning ratio about (2.1~2.2):1. This ratio can meet the request of engineering application including best combustibility, low pollutant emission and prefect economical efficiency. One comprehensive utility technology and its feasibility, MSW incineration and anaerobic fermentation joint solutions, are discussed.
