As one of the five widely applied engineering plastics, most of the vinyl chloride monomer is used to for synthesis of polyvinyl chloride(PVC), and PVC is widely used in every aspect of people’s daily life. The recent years have witnessed the phenomenon that the demand for the vinyl chloride is increasing with the development of the economy. So the production research and development for the technology of vinyl chloride monomer synthesis is of great significance.Currently, there are mainly three synthesis methods for vinyl chloride monomer, which are ethylene oxychlorination, acetylene hydrochlorination and ethane oxychlorination. Developed countries mainly adopt the ethylene oxychlorination with petrochemical route, and more than75%of the domestic enterprises adopted the acetylene hydrochlorination with coal-chemical route. The highly toxic mercury catalyst used in acetylene hydrochlorination causes serious damage to the workers and environment, So the process development for non-mercury catalytic acetylene hydrochlorination to produce vinyl chloride is of great importance. The current research focused on the study of the method to produce vinyl chloride with non-mercury catalyst and the main research contents are listed as follows:Suitable catalyst and support was chosen. The catalytic properties and optimum conditions of the reaction was studied through the experiment. The appropriate process conditions for the non-mercury are studied and an effective basis are provided for industrial production. The life evaluation of the catalyst are studied, and the reason for the coking of the catalyst is researched.
