BPA-polycarbonate is a kind of polycarbonate with most output and abroad application, which is one of the most rapid developed engineering plastics. In this paper, the structure, performance, application and market of BPA-polycarbonate are introduced briefly. And after comparing the synthetic process, the solid state polymerization (SSP) is put forward, using diphenyl carbonate (DPC, obtained through non-phosgene process) and bisphenol A (BPA) as raw materials. Then the dynamics, induced crystallization process and synthetic technology development of BPA-PC by solid state polymerization are focused on. The results are as follows:The purity of DPC which is crystallized by ethanol and distilled water is99.60%, and intrinsic viscosity of the product is70.08mL/g; AA001is the good catalyst for the prepolymerization reaction; the optimal drying temperature of prepolymers is50℃; the optimal temperature for SSP is200℃, meanwhile the optimal reaction time and rotation speed are6-8h and95-115rpm; the optimal powder particle size of prepolymers is from80to100mesh. The BPA-PC product with the highest intrinsic viscosity of87.07mL/g is synthetized when intrinsic viscosity of prepolymer is31.58mL/g; besides, if the prepolymer is crystallized by solvents, the intrinsic viscosity of BPA-PC could be improved obviously.
