Biomass briquetting is a process that presses the low-density biomass materials ororganic wastes such as straw, wood chips, sawdust, rice husk, into a certain shape withhigh density solids fuel by mechanical pressure method. Currently the most widelyused machine in China is the ring die roll forming machine. However, this machine’slife becomes shorter under the high temperature and high pressure workingenvironment, with a high maintenance fee and a low efficiency. This paper aims to reduce the wear of ring die, optimize the environmentalstructure, and improve the life of ring die which is the key part of the roll formingmachine, the content of the tasks are as follows:1)Analyzes the distribution of the material in the granulation process by themolding machine, and points out the relationship among the three regions where thematerial distributed in, then by analyzing the force status among the pressure roller, ring mold, and the materials, this paper deduces the optimum thickness theoreticalformula for the material layer of the feed zone.2)Analyzes the force status during the ring mold material extrusion process, andmakes a theoretical analysis of ring die hole based on a simplified model.; reveals therelationship between the extrusion pressure in the material Poisson’s ratio, coefficientof friction and ring die aspect ratio and granulation process. The impact of the ringmold opening rate has on the forming mechanism is analyzed as well. A conclusion ismade that if the ring mold is with sufficient rigidity, the production efficiency can beimproved by increasing the opening rate.3)Comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the existingcompression molding process, molding equipment point of view, the analysis of themanufacturing process of the ring mold, according to the ring molding machine works, the main components of the ring die molding machine ring die and rollerits components,2D and3D design, three-dimensional images and simple moldingmachine assembly to provide a theoretical basis for the next chapter finite elementanalysis.4)A three-dimensional modeling is drawn by using the SOLIDWORKS software, and then the analysis is conducted with the ANSYS software by puting three differentlength-diameter ratio models into it. From the analysis of stress and strain the above,a better length-diameter ratio can be achieved.5) Draws a model directly in the ANSYS software, and then simulates the wearby making a contact of the friction between the ring die and the biomass in order tofind the easiest wear position.
