With the advancement of science and technology, the metallization of nonmetal materials have received tremendous attention in the research of new materials and the applications fields of that extend continuously, such as meet beautiful decoration and some special function of anti-static or anti-electromagnetic shielding. The method of ultrasonic electroless plating of polyurethane foam and glass fiber was used in this paper. The nickel-plated reticulated PUF and silver-plated linear glass fiber are even and have high conductivity and good adhesion, which make them a broader range of applications. The concrete research is as follows:Firstly, the process of pretreatment was studied and the effect of time of sensitization and activation on the resistivity of nikel-plated PUF and silver-plated glass fiber was also investigated. The composition and configuration process of the solution of electroless palting nikel and silver was analyzed and summarized. The recovery of nikel ions in electroless plating exhausted solution was realized by the method of oxidizing sedimentation of bleaching powder and the removal rate was over99.5%.Secondly, the optimal conditions of electroless plating nikel were obtained by orthogonal experiments and single factor. The Ni-coated PUF was characterized by SEM, XRD, TG, thermal conductivity measurement and thermal shock tests. The results showed that the obtained nickel plating layer was even and covered completely and has good adhesion under the optimal conditions. The resistivity of Ni-coated PUF got minimum1.3Ω·cm. The proportion of nikel was approximately29.5%through the TG test. The maximum coefficient of heat conductivity was0.02960W/(m·K).Finally, the optimal conditions of electroless plating silver were obtained by orthogonal experiments and single factor. The Ag-coated glass fiber was characterized by SEM, XRD and thermal shock tests. The results showed that the obtained silver plating layer is even and covered completely and has good adhesion under the optimal conditions. The resistivity of Ag-coated glass fiber got3.42×10-5Ω·cm. The3MMW and8MMW attenuation performance of optimal Ag-coated glass fiber were tested. The results showed that the Ag-coated glass fiber had the excellent attenuation ability and the attenuation performance in8mm waveband was more obvious.
