Glass fiber is a one-dimensional inorganic silicate material, which has a series of excellent properties; such as incombustibility, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength and so on, so it has been widely used in composite materials and in many high-tech fields, such as aerospace, communications, ship, automobile, construction, information, electrical and electronic, etc. It is playing an very important role in the national economic construction.At present, the glass fibers production of our country now ranks the first place in the world, but the domestic enterprise product color is single, and the performance of special glass fiber products is relatively large; Its composite material products are colorless and transparent, single color, and do not have electromagnetic shielding effect. In order to improve the appearance properties of glass fiber to meet the market demand and expand the scope of application of the product, research and development function of glass fiber products is important.In this paper, the colorant formulations is added in glass fiber, surface colored glass fibers obtained by preparing the ingredients, melting, quenching, drawing, and other processes. Study the effects of colorant insertion, fiber diameter, the impact of melting process for colored glass fiber optical properties. On this basis, the influence of surface modification and coating process on the properties of glass fiber is studied.By doping 416wt% of MnO2 and the glass fiber was prepared by high temperature melting, the samples were characterized by the UV-V:S spectrophotometer, FT-IR, DSC. The results showed that: the glass fiber wire drawing temperature is 1280℃1300℃; When the content of MnO2 increased, the intensity of the first increased and then decreased, and the intensity of 12 wt.% was the highest in 3.34cN/dtex. Colored fiber surface reflectance gradually decreases with the increase of the content of MnO2 and the fiber diameter; also it reflected with increasing temperature decreases after the first to increase and the reflectivity of the fiber was minimum at 1500℃; It can be seen from the spectra and CIE diagram color fibers are brown. Mn doped glass fiber has better temperature color fastness, which can meet the requirements for the preparation of composite materials.The article also discusses the impact on the performance of Co-doped glass fiber, By doping 01wt% of Co2O3 and the glass fiber was prepared by high temperature melting, the results show: The fiber drawing temperature of 1300℃1320℃; When the content of Co2O3 increased, the tensile strength of glass fiber increased, and it will reached 2.11cN/dtex at 1wt.%. The reflectance of the surface reflectance of the colored glass fiber will decrease with the increase of Co2O3 content, the increase of the diameter of the fiber and the increase of the temperature. The CIE diagram shows that the color of the glass fiber is blue. The colored glass fiber has good color fastness to heat.To further meet the glass fiber in the application of the electronics industry, we study the effect of KH580 surface modification and coating process for glass fiber. A layer of compact metallic silver particles coated on the surface of the glass fiber by electroless plating and the conductive glass fiber of silver metallization was successfully prepared. In the external reducing agent under the assistance of silver ions in the glass fiber surface can be fully restored, the preparation of conductive glass fiber with good conductivity; when the KH580 concentration of 2%, modified time 120 min, the concentration of silver nitrate was 15g/L, glucose 23.8g/L, electroless plating temperature is 50℃, plating time is 70min; its monofilament resistivity of 7.2×10-7Ω?m. SEM and XRD results showed that the surface of the glass fiber is uniform and compact, and the coated glass fibers have good adhesion.
