Cyclopropane subunits occur in many natural products of secondary metabolism. The majority of cyclopropane-containing natural compounds have been isolated fromplants, fungi, or microorganisms. Many show biological activity and may serve aspotential drug leads or provide new ideas for the study of enzyme mechanisms.Since the first three-membered rings derivatives were synthesized, they havebeen well developed in the past100years. Despite the ring strain, cyclopropanes areusually chemically relatively inert, unless further activating groups are introduced onthe ring.Owing to their exceptional reactivity, activated cyclopropanes are usefulbuilding blocks in organic chemistry and the research for their synthesis andreactiones have attracted many interests in many fields. With the rapid developmentof organic chemistry, functionalised cyclopropane has become an significant syntheticintermediate, also in eterocyclic chenistry. It is worked out that dihydrofuran derivatives can be produced fromfunctionalised cyclopropane in the condition of Tf2O or TfOH, and that cyclopropylketone can be produced from functionalised cyclopropane with the existence of NaOH.In this paper, we reported an efficient synthesis of dihydrofuran and cyclopropylketone compounds from functionalised cyclopropane. The advantages of our synthesis are synthetic simpleness, ready-made, cheapraw materials, and high yield.
