Fluorescence property of citropten, an active component of Chinese herbal medicine, was studied in the thesis. Fluorometric methods for the determination of citropten in Fingeredcitron (Foshou in Chinese) and in Lemon, caffeic acid in Dandelion (Pugongying in Chinese)crude drugs and its preparation were established.3D fluorescence fingerprint was used for theidentification of some confusable medicinal crops.Five parts are included in the thesis:1. Fluorescence property of citropten was studied. It was observed that the fluorescenceintensity of citropten aqueous solution is up to the maximum and kept stable in the range ofpH3.88~9.59. The maximum excitation and emission wavelengths were325nm and445nm,respectively. Influence of experimental conditions on fluorescence intensity was investigated.Using quinine sulfate as a reference, fluorescence quantum yields of citropten aqueoussolution containing15%and80%methanol were determined to be0.481and0.777,respectively.2. Fluorescence property of Foshou was studied. The content of citropten in Foshou wasanalysed by2D fluorometric method,3D fluorescence fingerprint method and a thin-layerfluorescence scanning method, respectively, the results were basically consistent. A3Dfluorescence examination method was proposed for the identification of Foshou and itsconfusable medicinal material Xiangyuan.3. Fluorescence property of Lemon was studied. The content of citropten in Lemon wasanalysed by2D fluorometric method,3D fluorescence fingerprint method and a thin-layerfluorescence scanning method, respectively, the results were basically consistent.4. The content of caffeic acid in Pugongying was analysed by2D fluorometric methodand3D fluorescence fingerprint method. The content of caffeic acid in Pugongyingpreparation was determined by3D fluorescence fingerprint method.5. The3D fluorescence examination method was used for the identification of someconfusable medicinal crops, and it was demonstrated that3D fluorescence examinationmethod is an effective method for qualitative analysis of Chinese herbal medicine.
