At present, the heavy gauge plate is basically made from steel ingot and continuous casting slab. However, the plate that made from steel ingot is so ineffective and its production cycle is so long that it hardly meets the requirements of the market. In the other hand, heavy gauge plates over100mm are hardly produced by continuous casting slab in the factories due to the restriction of reduction ratio. Producing heavy gauge plate with roll-cladding is an effective way. In this method, two continuous casting slabs were welded in together and then hot-rolled. The heavy gauge plate that produced by this method can meet the requirements well. Therefore, this study of heavy gauge roll-cladding steel plate has a very important practical significance. In this paper, welding parameter’s impact on the welding seam was studied first. Base on this, the two slabs were welded sealed, and then, rolled with different total reduction ratio. The impact of the reduction ratio to the interface properties were analyzed by researching the interface microstructure and mechanical properties. The contents of the present work mainly include the following parts:1) In this case cladding plate was welded by different process with EBW. Though studying the welding seam’s property, the regular pattern of the welding process parameter’s impact on the welding seam was found. Base on this, we select the appropriate welding process for the cladding plate with0.5mm gap.2) By researching microstructure of the interface and their Z direction tensile mechanical properties of the Heavy gauge cladding plates, which were rolled with different reduction ratio, the impact on cladding effect are found. Base of the results, the least reduction ratio’s range which the cladding plate can get good cladding expect is found.3) The cause of rolling reduction ratio’s impact on the cladding effects was analyzed through the complex mechanism of the cladding plate and the formation and deformation mechanism of the inclusion.
