As to CNC products’high precision, high rigidity and high speed development direction, the study of the static and dynamic analysis and structural optimization about CNC spindle component becomes more and more important. Therefore, the research on the optimization CAD system of spindle is very important in order to improve the performance of spindle, shorten the cycle of development and manufacturing, enhance its technological content and reduce the cost.This paper firstly expounded the basic principle of genetic algorithm and method, and then developed the spindle optimization CAD system according to the principle of spindle optimal design and the principle of parametric design.The followed works have been done in the paper:(1) Study the theory of spindle optimization design, and build a more realistic mathematical model of spindle optimum design.(2) Establish the optimization mathematical model of spindle, and carry out the optimization desig of it by using the improved genetic algorithm.(3) The Parametric design system of spindle was established in UG platform according to the object-oriented design technology and UG secondary development technology, such as UG/Open API, UG/Open MenuScrip, UG/OPEN API.(4) The database management system of spindle was built by using ACCESS. And it makes the seamless connection between the spindle optimization design of the system and the parametric design system.At the last, the paper introduced the detailed process of specific optimal design by using this system according to a example. And verified the significance of improving the efficiency of spindle component design with the application for the optimization CAD system.
