Machine tools quantity in our country is the highest in the world, however, energy consumption of machine tools is huge and energy utilization efficiency is low. Thus the energy waste problem is so serious that needs to be solved. Reasonable selection of cutting parameter has great significance in processing costs reduction, productivity increase, workpiece quality improvement, and energy utilization improvement. So reducing energy consumption of cutting process through cutting parameter optimization is one of the effective ways to resolve low energy utilization rate in mechanical processing industry. In this paper, the optimization study aiming at low energy cutting parameter in turning processing process has been carried on.With spindle system input power at the time when machine running smoothly as the research object, analyze according to the spindle system composition and its energy dissipation process of CNC machine tools, on the basis of power output characteristics of transducer and asynchronous motor, energy consumption process of asynchronous motor and mechanical transmission devices, workpiece power consumption model and additional load power consumption model are built.spindle system energy consumption model is established under Light condition and cutting condition in the process of machine tool operation, with a multi-switching CNC machine tool as an experiment example, machine tool spindle system correlation coefficients of light condition energy consumption model, workpiece power consumption model, and additional load power consumption are obtained to prove the validity of machine tool spindle system energy consumption model.The research has established turning parameters optimization model aiming at low energy consumption, according to the characteristics of rough machining and finish machining, the constraints of turning processing are analyzed, an optimization objective function aiming at reducing spindle system energy consumption is established, comprehensively considering quality, radius, surface roughness and other factors of workpiece, with feeding and spindle speed as optimization variables. Based on the study of genetic algorithm, regarding to the actual requirement of this subject, the reasonable operation methods and parameters are determined.On the basis of researches above, this paper develop low-energy-consumption turning parameter optimization system integrated with energy consumption prediction, using MATLAB graphical user interface development tools. Using this system to optimize cutting parameter, to verify the accuracy and optimizing effect of energy consumption model. The experimental results show that the optimized cutting parameter caneffectively reduce the energy consumption in cutting process, the experimental results show that the optimization results can effectively reduce the energy consumption in the process of cutting.
