From the1990s on, the development of Chinese jewelry industry has faced the adjustmentfrom processing industrial structure to creative industrial structure. While over20years development of domestic conceptual jewelry is remarkable, but it hardly interacts with themarket. Because of the needs of interaction, the style-driven market asks for the conceptualjewelry.The concept of jewelry was born at the beginning of last century. Different schools ofmodern art completely subverted the previous all forms of art, at the same time, the appearanceof conceptual jewelry opened people’s eyes. Natures of art, originality and experiment are threebig characteristics of conceptual jewelry. In terms of creative purpose, concept of jewelryincludes three categories: first, expressions of artists emotion, ideas and humanistic feelings;secondly, the exploration of using new materials and new manufacture craft; thirdly, the pursuitof new forms of beauty and structural innovation. Both from the point of view of art and market,the development of foreign conceptual jewelry is fashionable and vital. Its concept of ideas andart keeps renewing. What s more, it has developed actively and healthily in the market, includingmature development of studios and cooperation between artists and brands and so on. Ourconcept of jewelry is still at the starting stage in the market. Independent studios are just budding.Besides, to be the driving force of market-driven conceptual jewelry, enterprises are also in thepreliminary development. However, to be promoted in the market, works of jewelry need tofollow some commercial rules. As a result, independent designers of conceptual jewelry need tokeep a balance between respect of market and self-maintenance in the future. Finally, during days of creative practices in designing jewelry, the author wishes to share an idea. Jewelry is notso far, instead, it is beautiful and friendly. And everyone can have a jewel, which decorates life ofeach ordinary people. Just like candy, jewelry makes life sweeter.
