Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has attracted increasing attention due to its excellentphotocatalytic properties on decomposing organic pollutants, bacteria and virus in water. However, a major barrier to the widespread use of TiO2is its band gap(3.2eV), which limitsthe photo-response to visible light. In this paper, F, N and Er were tri-doped to TiO2nanomaterials so caused the improved absorption and photocatalytic properties. Specific tasksare as follows:1. A novel F–N-Er tri-doped TiO2photocatalyst was prepared by using sol–geltechnology.2.A mesoporous nanocrystalline F-N-Er tri-doped TiO2powders with mix crystalstructre were prepared by using hexadecyl trimethyl-ammonium bromide(CTAB)as thetemplate and tetra-n-butyl titanate source by means of hydrothermal method.3.The analyses of phase structure and the optical properties including XRD, UV-vis,BET, SEM,TEM and Up-conversion spectrum were tested.4.Its excellent photocatalystic property has been proved through the degradation ofphenol and killing colibacillus under visible light. The process of photocatalytic degradationon different calcination temperature, the initial solution concentration, amount of catalyst andpH were investigated. The phase structure and the optical properties including the energyabsorption and transfer on the surface of titanium dioxide during photocatalytic degradationprocess were discussed.
