With the development of science and technology, the requirement for the qualityof pre-anodes increases in the aluminum production process. And the performance ofcoal tar pitch acting as binder is the most important factor to the quality of anodes.Therefore, It is urgent to produce high-quality coal tar pitch used for anodes quality.On the analysis of medium-temperature coal tar pitch and High-temperaturecoal tar pitch composition and properties, in the condition of acid catalyzed, modifiedbitumen were produced by modifying some components of coal tar pitch (mainly βresin) with formaldehyde as cross-linking agent. And the properties of modifiedbitumen were studied. The modified coal tar pitch has a very good thermal stabilityand process performance.Pre-anodes were produced with medium-temperature coal tar pitch,High-temperature coal tar pitch and modified asphalt Preparation of anodesrespectively. And the resistivity, compressive strength, bulk density, porosity, truedensity, weight loss, permeability and thermal expansion coefficient, microstructureand other properties of the pre-anodes were studied to reveal effect of differentasphalt binder. The major technical indicators of anode samples fabricated withmodified coal tar pitch are as follows: resistivity:50.7μ m, bulk density:1.57g/cm3,compressive strength:51.8Mpa, which fully attain the state’s first grade Standards.In the industrial production, process control and equipment has a great effect onthe performance of anode. The thesis focused on the actual production of productionof raw materials of petroleum coke, asphalt characteristics, the use of hightemperature and strong kneading, vacuum forming and baking a new technologyprocess control and cost control, the use of mathematical statistics, compare, analyzeand summarize the methods, indicating that the industrial use of Instead of modifiedasphalt, the temperature of asphalt binder to do to optimize the performance of anodes,and does not increase the cost, so as to come with the industrial use of modifiedasphalt prepared anode can be prepared by a large number of application.
