Because of the excellent characters such as good corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, strong toughness and prevention for radiation, Stainless steel is widely used in the industrial production and daily life. However most of the stainless steel in the market is of a single color of silvery white. The colored stainless steel developed in recent years has been successfully used in a wide range of application such as in electrical appliances, decoration, chemical engineering and industrial art fields. But the previous researches were focused on the optimization of the technology parameters, scarly involved with the effect of the metal ions concentration on the coloring process. In this paper, the aging of the coloring solution and the influence regular of the impurity ions on the coloring process were studued.1、The change trends of concentrations of main impurity ions (Fe3+and Cr3+ions) in the cloring solutions on the coloring process of430stainless steel were detected by ICPAES. Meanwhile the influences of adding Fe3+and Cr3+ions (Cr2(SO4)3, Fe2(SO4)3) into the coloring liquid on the chemically coloring process was investigated also. The results showed that the additions of Fe3+and Cr3+ions (generated by coloring reaction or adding) led to the aging of the coloring liquid. Moreover, when added simultaneously, Fe3+interacts synergistically with Cr3+resulting in a greater impact on the aging of coloring liquid than that in the case of being added separately. So synergy effect among various must be considered for judging the concentration limit of the ions to reach the aging condition. This view has not yet been put forward and taken seriously in the previous study.2、surfaces were colored in a coloring solution composed of sulfuric acid, chromic anhydride and a certain amount of impurities. The effect of the impurity ions concentraction (Fe3+、Cr3+、Ni2+) on the coloring process of SUS201stainless steel and SUS304stainless steel has been investigated. The effect of impurity ions on the coloring process has been researched by potential-time curves, and the influence on the corrosion resistance of the film brought by impurity ions were investigated also by using polarization scanning and electrochemical impendence spectrum (EIS). The results showed that the added Fe3+、Cr3+、 Ni2+ions in the coloring solution made the coloring rate increased but led to the degradation of the corrosion resistance and wear-resisting performance of the colored film that formed on the surfaces of SUS201stainless steel and SUS304stainless steel.
