The application of plastic parts has been penetrated to the automobile, electronics, aerospace and other industries, Injection molding is one of the main processing methods for plastic parts. Now the traditional empirical design is difficult to meet the need of fast and high-qualified plastic parts production, with the development of technology and the application of computer simulation, CAE technology has become an indispensable part in the injection molding. It has been applied to simulate the process of injection molding, which is contribute to predict the quality defects and optimize mold structure parameters, so as to minimize the number of testing and repairing mold and shorten the cycle.The shell is a thin-walled part with large length to diameter ratio, the structure at both ends needs to carry out by core pulling, thus it’s easy to form defects, such as short filling, weld lines etc, besides, the core may have some deformation due to the impact of plastic melt directly, which leads to the process of core pulling difficult. The key topic is the optimization of gating system, the original plan aims at the illiquid polymer materials PEI, so the cross-sectional area of the gating system and sprue length are relatively large. In the primitive experiments, the qualified rate of the plastic part increase slightly with the improvement of the process parameters. However, the problem of core pulling still exists, so proposing a new gating system can reduce or eliminate the deformation of the core, which makes core pulling easier.With the use of Moldflow software, it can simulate the process of injection molding, which is available to verify the accuracy of the simulation combined with the experiment and find out the causes of defects. For the problem of core pulling, short filling etc in the process of injection molding, we put forward a new gating system on the basis of Moldflow analysis. According to the comparison between them, we establish a better gating system of the plastic parts, which can effectively prevent the deformation of the core and reduce the weld lines, thus to improve the appearance quality of the plastic parts, finally it can improve the qualified rate of the processing parts and reduce the production cost.
