Injection molding is a very common and important plastic moldingmethod and has been widely applied in automotive industry field. CAEtechnology of injection molding is one of the important auxiliary analysistools, which can effectively shorten the period of product development,improve mold design and process optimization. In this paper we focused onthe important performances such as weld lines positions and strength and partdeflections of an airbag bracket, made a study of the mold flow behavior inthe injection molding process and completed the design and process analysiswith MoldFlow software.In this paper we chose mold temperature, material temperature andinjection gate position as the test factors, and then chose Clamp force,volumetric shrinkage, welding line position and strength, part deflection asthe test targets, according to the test matrix designed by orthogonal testmethod, through several loops simulation and calculation, we finally obtainedone reasonable gating design and process parameters, after process confirm,impact strength test validation and deflection measurement, the part functioncan fulfill original design requirement. Finally it was been proved that CAEinjection molding analysis can effectively improve the part quality andproduction efficiency.
