Gas membrane separation technology has been widely used in many fields such as oil, gas and chemical industry because of its low energy consumption, easy to operate, etc. Hollow fiber membrane separator because of its outstanding characteristics such as high packing density, suitability for high-pressure operation, has been applied in organic vapor separation, etc. Currently hollow fiber membrane separator head is sealed by the adhesive, the package surface of the hollow fiber membranes are always coated with silicone rubber, the packaging technology is coating first and grouping after. The object of adhesive bonding is silicone rubber, and the silicone rubber coating is difficult to adhesive because of the small specific surface energy, and the hollow fiber membrane separators require long-term operation at high pressure, and an organic vapor environment, so the conventional adhesive could not do that. Thus, the head adhesive must have following requirements:(1) high adhesive strength. This is the basic requirements that ensure the adhesive membrane silk is effective bonding with wall;(2) low viscosity. High viscosity will make the colloid not effectively infiltrate the surface of the hollow fiber membranes, sealing is easy to produce bubbles and defects, leading membrane separator leakage;(3) have a good heat resistance, pressure resistance and resistance to organic solvents. Ensure that the film is available at a certain temperature and pressure. For special requirements of the head adhesive for hollow fiber membrane separator, in the paper, we make experimental design to develop urethane modified epoxy resin and two types of adhesive are applied to the hollow fiber membrane separator head requirements. In which the adhesive bonding strength of urethane-modified epoxy resin-based head is up to31MPa. The main contents are described as follows:Firstly, In order to improve adhesion and viscosity requirements, we selected Mannich reaction to modify1,6-hexamethylene diamine to synthesize the curing agent. By investigating the curing agent, toughening agent and coupling agent on the properties of adhesive formulations, we determined to select D230mixed with modified amine as curing agent, thiokol (PS) as toughening agent, KH560as coupling agent, to the preparation of epoxy resin type adhesive. The tensile, flexural and compressive strength of the colloid are65.56MPa,101.21MPa,81.72MPa. With a viscosity test methods for investigating the working life (adhesive operational performance can be maintained after the collocation) is60minutes.Second, to further enhance the strength and toughness of the adhesive bond, we used toluene diisocyanate and polyalcohol for the preparation of polyurethane prepolymers, then used it to modify epoxy resin. By studying the PU and PU-modified epoxy resin dosage, adhesives, other additives on the adhesive properties, compounding designs the adhesive formulations of polyurethane modified epoxy resin, curing agent is mixed in equal proportions of modified amine and D230, PS and PE mixed as toughening agent, coupling agent is mixed in equal proportions of KH550and KH560. The adhesive strength of the adhesive is up to31MPa, and working life is40minutes.Finally, we assemble both the head adhesive, through by examining the gas permeability of the hollow fiber membrane separator test, at different operating pressures and temperatures to examine whether the adhesive surface of the film produce peeling and the stability of the measured gas.The results show that the epoxy resin adhesive is easier to infiltrate membrane surface, and it’s beneficial to the sealing of the head, and the two kinds of adhesive can be used at room temperature when under pressure of2.0MPa, or at85℃,1.5MPa that can ensure the membrane surface not to produce peel and no leakage. Therefore, two types of adhesives are applicable for the head of the hollow fiber membrane separator.In this paper, the research of adhesive can be used for the hollow fiber membrane separator head in preparation of high performance formula which has great reference value.
