The Research On Application Of Lotus Pattern In Furniture Design

The classic traditional auspicious patterns, settling down after the long course of history, are very attractive. They give very comfortable and peaceful feelings to people, because of their shapes and cultural significance. This article is commenced on the basis of the lotus patterns in furniture design. It aimed at fully excavated and refined the beauty of art and cultural connotation of the traditional lotus patterns, so that the classic traditional patterns can meet the modern aesthetic by better combination with modern design concept. Benefiting from above, classic traditional patterns renewed its vitality of the new era.The paper collected a large number of literatures and pictures related to lotus pattern. Combined with literature research method and comparison method, we analyzed the lotus patterns’ usages in furniture of various dynasties, including their position in furniture, and decorative techniques. By Visiting furniture stores and collecting a series of image data, we got many classic cases of lotus patterns in modern furniture design. On this basis, we further summarized the application status of the lotus patterns in modern furniture design. In addition, combining modern aesthetic taste, we explored the lotus patterns in furniture design. For example, we tried deformation applications with induction and generalization, add and collocation, decomposition and reconstruction, exaggeration, delete and reduce and so on. Starting from the point of view of the formal aesthetics, this paper describes lotus patterns’ layout method in furniture design. From the scope of the process, we discussed the implementation of the different technology of the lotus patterns in furniture design. We also investigated the performance of the lotus patterns in different materials furniture. In addition, the article analyzed lotus patterns’application approaches in furniture design, such as usage on furniture surface, structural members, metal trim and appearance applications.Finally, according to the previously discussion and analysis, we put design theory into practice, to verify the rationality and feasibility of our viewpoint.
