The Research On Application Of Chinese Visual Elements In Children Furniture Design

Under the background of economic globalization, with the social development, the progress of science and technology and the frequent exchange of the world culture, the foreign culture began to enter China, and began to integrate into the local culture of China, thus Chinese traditional culture is gradually swallowed. For furniture design in the market, the blindly imitation of the western design leads to Chinese furniture for children lack of its own characteristics. Children are the future of our motherland, shouldering the mission of inheriting Chinese traditional culture. Childhood is an important period in establishing a correct outlook on life, values, and moral values. The integration of the Chinese traditional culture into the children furniture design, can let the children accept the traditional culture inheritance of Chinese traditional culture, and also it can enrich the types of furniture for children. Therefore, the research of the design of furniture for children integrated with the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture is meaningful.The research object of this paper is children at the age of4-9years old, with the investigation of the market of children furniture through market research method, I got a comprehensive understanding of the development of modern children furniture and I realized the lack of children furniture integrated with Chinese traditional culture. Using literature research method The thesis analyzed the psychological, physiological characteristics of children, and we can get a understand of the acceptance ability and cognitive ability of children, from the point of view of the inheritance and recreation of traditional culture, it analyzed the visualization of Chinese elements. Also it analyzed how to integrate the elements of the Chinese traditional architecture, Peking Opera mask, and pattern elements into the design according to the physical and mental characteristics and the cognitive ability of children.Through the summary method, the thesis summed up the Chinese elements in children furniture design. The thesis analyzed the design of the furniture for children by integrating the Chinese elements into it. It analyzed the shape, structure, material, color and decoration in Chinese children furniture design so that it provided the way how to design Chinese traditional furniture for children. Furthermore, basing on the conclusions of this study and related methods of furniture design, I made the design practice, to verify the theoretical achievements.The thesis analyzed the design furniture for children in line with the modern aesthetic by integrating the Chinese traditional culture into children furniture design, so that it can meet the children physical and mental characteristics, considering the cognitive ability of children.By contacting with furniture in daily life, children can accept the Chinese traditional culture unconsciously. The study of the children furniture design integrated with the traditional culture of Chinese has important significance of children’s education of traditional culture.
