The platinum group elements (PGEs), such as platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and rhodium (Rh), have been on the rise in urban environmental. As PGEs are likely to pose a human health risk, a number of studies have demonstrated PGEs levels in airborne particulate matter(APM). The determination of ultra-trace levels of PGEs in APM is hampered by several interferences, so it is very important to develop an exact and fast analysis technique. In the first chapter of this thesis, the PGEs emissions and their ambient distributions, as well as the analysis methods is summarized. The research purpose, contents and significances are introduced by the analysis of PGEs determination problems with complex adsorptive wave.In Chapter2:sensitive complex adsorptive waves of Pd Pt, Ru, Rh and Ir are researched. First, it has some study on the Ru and Ir complex, the peak potential is at-1.03and-1.10v, respectively. Good linear relationships exist between the concentrations and the current peaks when Ru, Ir are within8.0x10-3-4.0x10-’,8.0×10-2-4.8×10-1μg/mL. The effects of different experimental conditions and the primary reaction mechanisms are discussed.Second, there are sensitive polarographic waves of Pd Pt, Ru, Rh and Ir complexes with DMG at-0.60,-0.74,-0.83,-0.90and-1.10v, respectively, in the HAc-NaAc system (pH4.10). The concentrations of Pd, Pt, Ru, Rh and Ir are proportional to the peak height in the range from1.5x10-3-1.2x10-1,7.56x10-5-1.2x10-2,1.0x10-3-1.5x10-2,1.6x10-3-9.6x10-3and5.1x10-4-1.5x10-2μg/mL, respectively. The experimental conditions such as buffer solutions, the dosages of DMG, surfactants and others are investigated. In Chapter3:The part of TSP collections and determinations is introduced. After digestions and interference masking experiments are carried out, the concentrations of Pd, Pt, Ru, Rh and Ir in TSP samples are successfully measured by the method in Lanzhou city.
