Owing to its special properties of chemistry and physics wollastonite is usually applied to rubber, plastics and other polymers as an important inorganic filler which plays the role of filling and improving compatibility as well as reinforcing. In the dissertation, modified wollastonite was prepared with the wollastonite of Hami, Xinjiang as raw material, these factors such as modifier type, amount of modifier, modification time, stirring speed were studied. Macroscopical property of modified wollastonite was tested by contact angle meter; modified wollastonite was characterized by IR and SEM. It was shown that stearic acid and aluminum coupling agent had better modification effect than other agents and the optimum modified conditions were as follows: 2% amount of modifier, modification time 40 min, stirring speed to 1000 r / min.In this dissertation, the modified wollastonite was applied in filling the rubber in order to substitute for the silica and carbon black, which was prepared many rubber/wollastonite composites. When modified wollastonite substitutes the silica as fillers, mostly mechanical properties were improved by detecting mechanical properties, especially in the wear resistance; modified wollastonite film was increased 20% higher than that of silica film and it has special significance to tire rubber. The rubber/modified wollastonite which had been increased 25.9°C had a better thermal stability than rubber/wollastonite at 500℃from the TGA analysis and its strengthening mechanism was studied.The modified wollastonite which substituted for the silica as filler was also studied...
