Wollastonite is a material of a new industrial mineral,and is widely applied in rubber,plastics and papermaking as filler, besides traditionally applied in porcelain and ceramics,building materials, metallurgy etc. Because of poor miscibility between abio-filler and highpolymers, abio-filler is hardly dispersed in polymer. For this reason, wollastonite is requiredfor surface modification to become organic,and increase miscibility and dispersion inpolymer.This article focused on the wollastonite of surface activation method and PA-6composites of architecture and performance. The focus of study is the influence of threemethods of surface activation on the wollastonite of surface,and explore the influence ofamount of wollastonite, particle size, surface activation method on mechanical properties,processing flows and the impact of heat resistance in PA-6composite systems. The resultsshowed,the pretreated method of wollastonite could significantly increases the number ofsurface active groups,The effect of temperature, processing time, the concentration ofhydrochloric acid, the dosage of hydrochloric acid were investigated by orthogonal test,thebest acidification condition is: temperature of30℃, the reaction time of30min, thehydrochloric acid concentration of2%.The products were characterized by FT-IR, SEM andthe contact angle detector. The results showed that after polymerization. PMMA was graftedon the surface of wollastonite particles by chemical bond.The particle consists of centeredcore (wollastonite) and shell (PMMA), hydrophobic and pro-oily of wollastonite wereobviously improved.PA-6/wollastonite composites were prepared by separately filling wollastonite modifiedwith this three methods,including the direct method, the pretreated method and soap-freeemulsion polymerization. The mechanical properties of PA-6composite system show that thetensile strength and the resistance to heating of the blending material were remarkablyimproved with the increase of wollastonite. The best dosage of wollastonite reinforced Nylon6filled with is30%. Between the direct method, pretreatment,and emulsifier-free emulsionpolymerization, the tensile strength and impact strength of PA-6composite which modified by soap-free emulsion polymerization method was highest, increased by16.3%and89%, theprocessing flow of PA-6composite system of modified by the direct method is best.
