Hydrophobic/hydrophilic interpenetrating polymer network(IPN) resin is a kind of novel polymeric adsorbent. It consists of hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymer networks and is formed through physical entanglement. It has the characteristics of IPN like strong forced compatibility and cooperation interaction, and it also has the characteristics of polymeric adsorbent.Study of hydrophobic/hydrophilic IPN will supply theoretical foundation for novel adsorption and separation materials based on hydrophobic/hydrophilic IPN with forced compatibility and new-style of drug controlled release materials. In this thesis, several types of hydrophobic/hydrophilic IPN resins were successfully synthesized on the basis of preparation of hydrophobic/hydrophobic IPN by introduction of hydrogen-bonding donors/acceptors onto the skeleton of the second network via chemical conversion, and the structures, properties, and applications of the hydrophobic/hydrophilic IPN were investigated. The main contents and conclusions in this thesis are followed as:(1) Gel-type hydrophilic/hydrophobic poly(acrylate acid)/ polystyrene(PAA/PS) IPN resins were prepared, and the swelling properties of PAA/PS IPN resins in water, ethanol, benzyl alcohol, and toluene were investigated. The results indicated that the swelling ratio of PAA/PS IPN resins in water was the biggest and it increased with the decreasing of mass percentage of PS,the swelling was primarily based on hydrogen-bonding of PAA of PAA/PS IPN resin with water. In addition, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) of the PAA/PS IPN resin was analyzed and it was shown that the compatibility of the PAA/PS IPN resin depends on the mass ratio of PAA with PS.When the mass ratio of PAA with PS was near to one,the compatibility of the PAA/PS IPN resin was the best.(2) A series of hydrophobic/hydrophilic poly(divinylbenzene) /poly(acryl ethylenediamine)(PDVB/PAEM) IPN resins were prepared by adjusting the porogenic agent, mass ratio of the two networks, and the crosslinking degree of the second network. It revealed that the pore diameter distribution of PDVB/PAEM IPN resin was symmetrical and its adsorption capacity for bisphenol A(BPA) in aqueous solution was excellent when the mass ratio of butyl acetate with n-heptane,the mass ratio of the two networks, and the crosslinking degree of the second network was 2:1,1:1,and 10%,respectively.Analysis of the adsorption mechanism suggested that cooperation of hydrophobic interaction, hydrogen bonding,andπ-πstacking was the primary driving force for BPA adsorbed onto the PDVB/PAEM IPN resin in aqueous solution.(3) Synthesis of polystyrene/poly(acryl acetyl ethylenediamine) (PS/PAAEM) IPN was performed from PS/PAEM IPN through acetylation with acetic anhydride.Adsorption property of quercetin and BPA onto the PS/PAAEM IPN resin was studied, and adsorption mechanism was elucidated. It is found that the PS/PAAEM IPN resin can adsorb quercetin and BPA efficiently through hydrophobic interaction, hydrogen bonding,andπ-πstacking.Meanwhile,multiple hydrogen bonding was involved for the adsorption of quercetin onto the PS/PAAEM IPN resin.
