Labyrinth seal is widely used in aero-engine .It is a kind of simple and reliable sealing structure when flow pass through the passage between the rotor and the static brush .Kinetic energy is quickly dissipated into heat ,so the leakage is reduced. But as the throttle components of air cooling system.. The fluid through the labyrinth structure need to cool the other parts of the aero-engine, Rotating of labyrinth seal structure will do the work on the fluid. This will make the temperature of fluid increase. So it is essential to study the leakage and windage heating characteristics of the labyrinth seal structure .The research work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, the author reviewed a lot of literatures about the labyrinth seal ,analyzed the effect of some major factors on the leakage characteristics and windage heating characteristics.Secondly, The author study the pressure ratios, rotating speeds, the clearances, the honeycomb cell diameter and the cell depth with four fins stepped labyrinth seal. The results is as follows:(1)The rotating speeds almost has no influence on the leakage, the total temperature difference between outlet and inlet increases with increase of rotating speeds.(2)the leakage of labyrinth seal increases with the increase the pressure ratios, the total temperature difference between outlet and inlet deduces with increase of pressure ratio. (3)When the clearance increase ,the leakage increase. As the same time ,the total temperature difference deduces. (4)when the honeycomb cell diameters increases, the leakage increase, and the total temperature deduces. (5)The cell depth almost has no influence on the leakage and the total temperature difference between outlet and inlet.the labyrinth seal structure used in real aero-engine under the real conditions was simulated with FLUENT software. The velocity field, pressure field and the temperature distribution under real conditions was obtained. And the author gets the variation of the leakage with pressure ratio and rotating speeds, the variation of the total temperature difference between outlet and inlet with pressure ratio and rotating speeds. The results is that the leakage increases with the pressure ratios, It changes little when the rotating speeds change . The total temperature difference between outlet and inlet reduced with the pressure ratios ,It increases with the rotating speeds .
