Ultrasonic motor (USM) is a new concept of motors, which utilizes the vibration of the stator in the ultrasonic frequency band and the reverse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric materials. The mechanical movement and torque are obtained by means of the frictional contact force between the stator and rotor (or slider), changing from electrical energy to mechanical energy. USM has many advantages compared with traditional motors based on electromagnetic effect, such as high torque at low speed, high holding torque at power-off state, fast response, compact structure, low-noise operation and no electromagnetic interference. USM cannot develop without driver and controller. In order to make full use of USM, research and development of new driver and controller has great significance. The main accomplished works are as follows:1、Firstly the USM development in domestic and abroad and the driver and controller were introduced, and then the present defects were also discussed and analyzed, an innovated scheme is then proposed.2、The scheme of the main circuit and the working principle of each part including the DC/DC boost circuit, the DC/AC push-pull circuit and the coupling circuit(LLCC resonant), were designed and analyzed.3、The loss distribution of the driver and the effect of different load characteristics for the switching circuit with push-pull topology were optimized and analyzed.4、Properties, advantages and disadvantages of MSP430 are elaborated, development tools and environment of which were also introduced. Main module setting had been explained. Finally the workflow of unitary program was given.5、With the ADC12 module and the DAC12 module, the feedback circuit both of boost and single-electrode voltage was presented in this paper, and the corresponding control algorithm was introduced.6、The efficiency test of the driver was conducted, and the experiment was presented to verify the efficiency of the driver function and matching of LLCC resonant network.This project was granted by the project of the National Science Foundation of China and Jiangsu Provincial (Contract NO:50735002,Bk2009373).
