This subject is supported by the national key basic research and development program (973program)(2011CB707602) and the national natural science foundation of China (51175250).USMs have been developed as a new concept of motors since the1980’s. It utilizes the vibrationof the elastic body(stator) in the ultrasonic frequency band and the reverse piezoelectric effect ofpiezoelectric materials. The mechanical movement and torque are obtained by means of the frictionalcontact force between the stator and rotor or slider.Compared with the traditional electromagnetic motors, USMs have the advantages of high torqueat low speed, no gear reducer, fast response, self-locking and high resolution of displacement. USMshave been applied in the aerospace, robot and miniature machinery and other high-tech areas. But thetechnology of USMs is not very mature. It is necessary to test the electrical and mechanicalperformances in the scientific research, production and operation of USMs.we can see whether themotor meet relevant technical regulations, or seek the way and method of improving the designprocess. So the development of the testing system for the important parameters of USMs is verynecessary.An automatic testing system used for the electrical and mechanical performances test ofultrasonic motor is presented. In this system, MCU MSP430from TI is used as the core processor. Bymaking full use of its internal peripheral modules and combining with external sensors and signalprocessing circuits, various electrical and mechanical performances of ultrasonic motor can betested.Then the system can be used to evaluate and improve ultrasonic motor. The design method ofhardware and the software programming of PC and MCU is introduced in detail. Finally the motorexperiment was done using the system.The system has the advantages of rich functions, high testefficiency and convenient operation and so on.The functions are as follows:①Automatic control of USMs for start and stop②Automatic collection, analysis, and memory of test data③Automatic stop when the system goes wrong④Display and print test data and characteristic curve⑤Good Program interface and easy operation...
