Study On The Impact Of High-speed Rail On Urban Development And Urban Spatial Structure Of Tianjin

Along with high-speed railway construction in China, discussion is underway about its impact on cities with high-speed railway stations. Because high-speed railway construction in China has just started, it has no experience of mature case to refer that how much and in what way these cities will be affected and how it brings industry growth. However, urban development is closely related with these issues.This paper puts forward some constructive discussion to the questions above. According to the law from macro to micro and from direct to indirect, we presents three levels of impact of high-speed railway which is impact on traffic location, urban system and urban spatial structure.First, impact of high-speed railway on traffic location is studied. Starting from the three main contributing factors to traffic location and the features they dominate, effect of high-speed railway on the three main contributing factors is analyzed, and Tianjin is taken for example to analyze specific impact.Second, impact of high-speed railway on urban system is studied. Starting from classify urban system into two types, having studied on the mode of action of high-speed railway to cities at different levels of each type, we find impact of high-speed railway on a city varies with function and level of the city in the system, and it also depends on urban development strategy and implementation capacity of planning managers. Take Tianjin for example, from the perspective of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei urban system, impact of high-speed railway on urbanization process, city level and urban functions of Tianjin is analyzed.Third, impact of high-speed railway on urban spatial structure is studied. Starting from analysis of impact mechanism of high-speed railway on urban spatial structure, three aspects of impact are presented which are industrial layout guide, high-speed railway station hub guide, and corridor effect guide. Specific analysis of three aspects of impact of high-speed railway on urban spatial structure of Tianjin is given, which are the industrial structure, portal effect and corridor effect.Finally at the end of this paper, main conclusion is summarized, and the future research directions is given.
