In recent years, with the continuous development of digital earth in global researchand application, GIS (Geographic Information System) has been widely applied indomestic and abroad, and academic research results which are in relation to GIS growrapidly. Meanwhile, it is unavoidable that quite a few GIS projects which failed to getproper monitor and control have not been processed smoothly, of which product quality isnot consistent with the expected goals. The papers include analysis on features of GIS;point out why those GIS projects failed and emphasis on the monitor and qualitymanagement which play significant roles in GIS projects. Base on the practice of GISproject, the writer applies CMMI and Soft Engineering method to make a deep research ofGIS monitor and quality management. The purposes which are included in the paper are asthe following six aspects:①Analyze the features of GIS, CMMI and GIS project monitor and software qualitymanagement. Point out the main problems in GIS projects.②Research on process and product quality assurance of CMMI. According toprocess area of PPQA (Process and Product Quality Assurance), the paper includesprocedures of GIS project development and product quality assurance, detailed steps, methods, ways of project tracking and feedback.③Research on Project Monitor and Control of CMMI, including how projectmanagers periodically track performance parameters of GIS project plans, product scale, workload, cost, rate of progress and risks; how project managers make correctivemeasurement to adjust, making more practicable task allocation.④Research on Measurement and Analysis process of CMMI, including how tocollect data measurement for GIS project, how to maximize the measurement to promoteGIS projects and development in enterprise.⑤Research on Risk Management and analysis of CMMI, including how to do riskidentification, risk assessment, risk monitor and risk control for GIS project, and how to dorisk-averse.⑥Try to put the established process of CMMI into practice and verification, andstudy how do quantifiable, systematic and institutional control in the process of GISprojects, achieve the goal of strengthening project monitoring and quality management. |
