This paper aims to efficiently and steadily solve the quality problems of rainwater in townsand counties of Northwest regions of China, which is special for the utility-type household watertreatment by making full use of the technology of biological filtration and Household biologicalfiltration device system. In practice of application research, the effect and mechanism can beanalyzed meanwhile the growth period of biofilm and the removal efficiency of pollutional indexscan be determined. Approaching economic analysis and assessment of Household biologicalfiltration device system to define operational costs. Study on the management of operation andmaintenance of Household biological filtration device system, to define measures of managementand suggestions of improvement. The results show: Firstly, if filtering speed can be controlled under0.1m/h, the growth periodof biofilm is about15to25days; Secondly, the average removal rates of turbidity, CODMn,Ammonia, Aerobic Bacterial Count, Total Coliform Group are95.7%,36.8%,85.9%,95.7%,100%resptectivly. The problems, such as turbidity, organics, ammonia, and microbiology etc., canbe effectively solved. The quality of effluent water can be up to drinking water sanitary standard(GB5749-2006);Thirdly, if the device is driven by electricity, each device price is1500RMB,total cost of water purification is1.1RMB/m3, the usage cost is0.24RMB/m3, if thedevice is driven without electricity, each suit price is1000RMB,total cost of water purification is0.57RMB/m3, the usage cost is0.06RMB/m3.Hence, Household biological filtration device canbe easily operated and conveniently managed, which can be recommended for household watertreatment in towns and counties of Northwest regions of China.
