As a new type of structural system, high-rise diagrid tubular structures withcurved meshes can not only improve flexibility in the choice of architectural schemes, but also greatly avoid awkward situation of structural designer’s passive design andpromote technical innovation of structure and construction. This paper mainly studieson lateral resistance and robustness of this kind of structure.Configuration of high-rise diagrid tubular structures with curved meshes isillustrated geometrically and structurally. Effects of some related factors on lateralresistance of this structure type are evaluated, including geometric parameters such asangles of curved diagonals, and height-to-width aspect ratio, along with structuralfactors such as major ring beams, corner columns and node connections. Elasticresponse spectrum analysis is carried out for a set of structural models. Bottom angleof curved diagonals and aspect ratio are geometrically more sensitive to lateralresistance, while major ring beam is structurally dominant. For a certain aspect ratio, there exists an optimal range of bottom angle of curved diagonals, within which effectof top angle of curved diagonals is limited. Arrangement of major ring beamssignificantly reduces moment of curved diagonals. Corner columns and nodeconnections slightly affect lateral resistance. Generally, high-rise diagrid tubularstructures with curved meshes have more excellent lateral resistance than thosecomposed of straight diagonals with uniform angles. On the basis of the importance of the components, this paper analyses therobustness of the structure through the linear static analysis under different standards(GSA2003and DOD2005) and summarizes the force transfer path. For the samestorey, the middle components are more important than the side ones. For thedifferent storeys, the components of the lower level are more important than thehigher ones. In addition, the importance of the nodes exceeds that of the columns. When the bottom column is demolished, the forces of the ring beams and columnswill be changed. The bending moments of the ring beams connected with thedismantled column rise while the other ones are not changed. The columns connected with the dismantled column fail so that the vertical loads are redistributed to the othercolumns. The components above the7thstorey are not influenced. Generally, thestructure has a good performance on robustness according to different standards.
