In 1960,the study of diagrid structures began with the construction of Pittsburgh Building.Researches about diagrid tube structures are getting more and more till early 21st century,and some achievements were emerged in the form of literature and engineering examples.As a new member in this field,it has diverse architectural modeling and elegant appearance.The intensive study of diagrid tube structures will benefit our economic development and academic innovation.The finite element software SAP2000 is used to build three different kinds of diagrid structure models,and load on the vertical direction.The lateral displacement characteristics of the models under vertical loads are getting by observing the overall deformation curve.Then lateral displacement law of structure is put forward,and the cause is analyzed.Meanwhile,it is suggested that the structural style with smaller lateral displacements and conform with engineering are useful.Next,the effect of loading value is analyzed with changing loading values and the inner force characteristics are pointed out.The deformation relation results from diagonals deformation diagram.A formula about lateral displacement is derived out to compare with results from finite element simulation,and it turns out that the results are reasonable.This formula can be used in the calculation of lateral displacement values under vertical loads.Under the condition of the diagonal angle values are 37.56°,45.71 °,56.96°,66.56°,71.99° and 77.77°,six models are analyzed under load,to study the lateral displacement law with changing angles further.Two models with more shallow angles and variable displacement curves are abandoned,and just do research into the others.Finally,four models with diagonal angle values of 56.9°,66.56°,71.99° and 77.77°are chosen as the representative to study the influence factors of structure's lateral displacements under loads,such as enforcement of nodes,diagonals and ring beams.It turns out that enforcement of nodes and ring beams are more effective,while enforcement of diagonals makes little sense.When diagonal angle is small,reinforcing nodes and ring beams nearby at the same time can enhance the structure's vertical mechanical behavior adequately,which proposes corresponding suggestions to enforcement of the structure.
