In recent years, the contamination and potential risk of PPCPs in drinkingwater has received great concern world wide. In China, related research has not beenreported about the occurrence of PPCP in drinking water. This thesis focuses on thedistribution and purification of PPCPs in drinking water.(1) High-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometrywas optimized to analyze37kinds of target PPCPs. Solid phase extraction(SPE) was used as pretreatment method, SPE cartridge (Oasis HLB) filtrationvelocity was10ml/min with the volume of eluate solution as6ml. Theanalytical method was able to detective trace PPCPs in drinking water withrecovery rates as25.8~106.3%and detection limits as0.9~29.4ng/L.(2) The investigation of PPCPs in water supply system was conductedduring one year. It was found that17kinds of PPCPs occurred in water supplysystem,however the number may increase to35while the water resource gotpolluted. The distributions of PPCPs were15,16,9and5found in waterresouce, influent, effluen and tap water ranged from nd~20.2ng/L,nd~19.8ng/L, nd~7.1ng/L and nd~1.4ng/L.(3) Conventional treatment process was able to eliminate some PPCPs,about7kinds of PPCPs were detected in the effluent of water plant, theremoval efficiencies ranged between50%and93%; ozone and activatedcarbon treatment process can eliminate most of the target compoundseffectively, Indomethacin was detected in the effluent of water plant with aremoval efficiency of95%.(4) The influences of filtration velocity, pH and organic matter on the removalefficiency of PPCPs by activated carbon filtration were examined. Increase offiltration velocity would significantly enhance the residual concentration ofLincomycin and Indomethacin in effluent. pH value at7can help Lincomycinand Indomethacin reach to its optimal removal efficiency, however, the removal efficiency of Sulfamethoxazole was significantly correlated with pH.It was found that the removal efficiencies for all the tested PPCPs woulddecrease in the presence of organic matters.(5) Ozonation of PPCPs may be influenced significantly by contacting time andozone concentratio. Sulfamethoxazole, Trimethoprim, Antipyrine and Tiamulincan be completely oxidized by ozone in5min, the reaction time forDisopramidle and Sulpiride were10~15min, Indomethacin can still bedetected in effluent after15min ozonation. All the tested PPCPs can becompletely eliminated when ozone concentration above3mg/L.
