With the developed of the electronic equipment, the amount of high heat densityserver gradually increased in data center. The heat dissipated by high heat densityserver continues to increase at a alarming rate. Only increase supplied of the chilledair either through data center raised floor perforated tiles or ceiling not only can notsufficient to match the air flow required by the high heat density server rack, but alsoresult in waste of energy. In this paper the temperature of the data room and powerconsumption of air-condition were tested and analyzed. In order to ensure the normalwork of the high heat density server, reduce energy waste, this paper describes a newcooling method-water-cooling, the system is provided with the characteristics of en-ergy-saving, environmental-protection and safety.The researches background and meanings of the rack water-cooling system arebrought forward from the aspects of energy, environment and water-cooling technol-ogy, and the domestic and overseas development of the rack water-cooling technologyis summarized then. A water-cooling rack is designed in terms of the requests andtraits of the system. And a testing system is performed so as to acquire useful data ofthe system. According to the experimental data to analyze, The water-cooling rackremoves a large portion of the heat from the rack as well as significantly lowering theair temperature exhausting the rear of the rack, maintain the temperature of the dataroom. Propose a cooling method which utilizes natural cold sources according to thechange of ambient temperature in Beijing. And economic analysis of the system isdiscussed either. Experimental and theoretical analyses show that, the integral systemhas preferable matches and all-pervading adaptability. In order to experimental systemcan automatically operates with safety, the temperature and humidity monitor system,integrated control system were developed. Finally, propose a practical applicationscheme concerning the water-cooling system of server racks with high heat density,provide theory and design guidance for widely use of water-cooling technology andtransformation of the old data room.
