Small flight control system is an important part of the small UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Itdetermines the success of the flight directly and gets lots of attention recently. This paper designs theflight control system (FCS) based on MPC565processor for small UAV, which has greatsignificance for improving the performance of the flight control system.After described the research status of flight control system for small UAV in the world, thewhole hardware scheme based on Power PC MPC565processor is given in order to meet the sampleUAV flight control system functions. And the FCS is divided into the main control module, the sensorand servo modules, the interface module, which solves problems such as high integration, lowcoupling, expansibility, small size and high cost-effective, etc.Secondly, the main control module based on the minimal system of MPC565microprocessor isdeveloped, which consists of4MHz clock part, reset part, BDM part and memeory part. Detaileddesign of the power supply and power distribution was accomplished, which based on the electricitydemand of each module in the system. Because the system integrates five kinds of sensors and fourservos, this paper designed the barometer, pitot intereface based on SPI communication intereface, theGPS, Xtend intereface based on serial communication intereface. Then, designed the analogue (A/D,D/A) interface, PWM interface, discrete quantity intereface, serial communication interface and theCAN intereface to meet the system demand.After completed the U-Boot and the device driver software development, the unit test and systemintegrated test were carried out for the hardware system in laboratory. The experiment results showthat the design is feasible and reliable, and its functions and performance meet the flight controlsystem design requirements.
