The modes of Automatic Flight System (AFS) of civilian aircraft are up to dozens ofkinds which can cause the problem of mode confusion. In order to work out modes whichpossess more man-machine efficacy and safety operation and realize the undisturbedswitch between modes, the modes of the Auto Flight System are studied in this paper. The work is mainly reflected in the following aspects:Firstly, through the analysis on the airworthiness standard and automatic flight of themodes of the mature aircrafts, based on the Matlab Graphical User Interface (GUI), theautomatic flight mode control panel suitable for our civil aircraft and the function of eachof working modes on the control pane is designed; the logical relationship among theworking modes is studied. Besides that, the switching logic modeling among the modesis also involved based on Stateflow.Secondly, the corresponding control law of each mode is designed by using theclassical control algorithm, including pitch control law, altitude hold control law, glideslope control law, flare control law, speed control law, attitude control law, headingcontrol law, lateral deviation control law, coordinated turn control law and auto throttlecontrol law. Finally, real-time communication of the modes module, control law module and GUIinterface is realized and the Auto Flight modes platform is built. And the simulation tasksare designed and the function of the platform is also simulated. Verification results showsthat the platform has well realized the switching of modes, the calls of correspondingcontrol law, the real-time communication between man-machine interface and simulinkmodel, all of which have achieved the expected purpose.
