The face gear drive is formed by an involute pinion and conjugated face gear. The application inhelicopter is widely, so it’s very important to do the research of the dynamic analysis of torque-splitface gear transmission system.The dynamic characteristic of orthogonal face gear transmission was studied. Based on ANSYS,the meshing stiffness of orthogonal face gear was researched, including the influence of tooth width,the modulus and the pressure angle. Based on the lumped mass method, the vibration model oforthogonal face gear transmission was built, and the dynamic equations were performed. The naturalfrequency was calculated, and the influence of the average meshing stiffness, the brace stiffness of thepinion and the face gear to the natural frequency was studied. The equations were solved byRunge-Kutta method. The dynamic performance was researched, including the time-domain responseof each freedom, and the dynamic load coefficient, and the influence of input rotation speed, the bracestiffness of pinion, the transmission error and the input torque to the dynamic load coefficient. Theresult shows that the dynamic load coefficient will be decreased when the brace stiffness of pinion andthe transmission error is small.Based on the lumped mass method, the dynamic model of orthogonal torque-split face geartransmission system was built, including the torsional vibration and the transverse movement.According to the dynamic model, the dynamic equations were performed. The natural frequency ofthe system was solved, and the influence of the meshing stiffness of face gear, the bending stiffnessand torsional stiffness of the input shaft to the natural frequency was studied. The bending stiffnessand torsional stiffness of the input shaft to the load sharing coefficient of the system were researched,and the result shows that he bending stiffness of input shaft has great influence to the characteristic ofload sharing, meanwhile, the influence of the torsion stiffness of the input shaft is small, and thebigger input torque would result in the better load sharing.The testing facility of the torque-split face gear transmission system was designed. Theexperiment was done and the experiment data wad processed to be compared to the theoretical model.The result shows that the theoretical model is correct.Based on MATLAB, the analysis software of the dynamic of face gear system was written.
