Analysis Of The Application Of Richard Padovan Proportion In Contemporary Architecture Form Creation

Architectural proportion is one of the most basic element of architectural image,and there are lots of researches and theories proposed by many famous architectsts ofthe world in history regarding to the architectural proportion issue as the researchingspace for the concepts of architectural proportion is vast. Due to the research ofarchitectural proportion theory developed by previous architects have become moreeffective and classical which is recognized by most architect gradually, we know it isimpossible to go beyond those research, therefore it becomes common in which peoplestart to rely on the newfrangled appearance and high technology, and a lack ofapplication or valuable thinking of proportion issue on the architectural image turns tobe a gordian knot.If we just try to improve contemporary architects awareness of proportion viaclassical regulary research, there would be no effectiveness on the basic problemsolving. We should attampt to consider the particularities of this era, research anddevelop through a new point of view, then to help architects realized how important theproportion research is. Thereby the author combined social background with RichardPadovan’s new perpectives theory towarded a new point of view so that it is able toreduce the negative influences for the architectural image design.Refer to Richard Padovan Theory by relating particularities of the era and issue tofind out the solution of how to remove negative influences is this project purpose. Thekey points of this report as follows:1) According to the research of Richard Padovan Theory, identified the valuesof new perspectives and in terms of philosophy views, analysised strength andweakenss in the two opposing point of view for proportion theory. Comparing to otherpoints disadvantage in one aspect, it emphrasis that “plasticity number” as oneimportant concept recommended by the new perspective is very valuable in the field ofcontemporary architectural image design.2) In theory, researching the relationship between theories which are recommended by the new perspective and contemporary architectural image design,meanwhile, try to analysis and fi nd out the defects with its relevant solution.3) In practice, to analysis how the new perspectives are extensively applied inthe reality by making case study with those successful scenarios and indicated theimportance of the “plasticity number” by means of values practised in contemporaryarchitectural design. To sum up the strategies and solutions of how to solve problemregarding the lack of proportion issue awareness in architectural image design.This report analyzed the relation between philosophical issues for the newperspectives and the solutions with some theory and practical values found by a seriesof research which made a great effort to decrease the negative influences for thearchitectural image design.
