Synchronous motor is power factor can be adjusted and the rotating speed is constantadvantages which is widely used in industrial and agricultural production. At the same timethe excitation system is an important part of synchronous motor which directly impact theoperation characteristic of motor. So the synchronous motor excitation device plays a vitalrole to improve the power factor and save energy.This paper, in the first place from the synchronous motor and the mathematical model ofexcitation system, expounds the characteristics of energy saving of synchronous motor andanalyzes the factors of synchronous motor energy saving; detailed studies the excitationadjustment of synchronous motor starting and operation; analyzes the achieving and existingproblems of the rectifier circuit; expounds the IGBT space vector control method in thepossibility of applying rectifier circuit and detailed analyzes its mathematical model and thededuction of the formula. Secondly, in MATLAB simulation environment, verified thesynchronous motor asynchronous starting and excitation system through simulation; inconvert load and excitation voltage case, analyzes the change of power factor of synchronousmotor; through simulation compares constant power factor of the closed-loop control thyristorrectifier circuit and constant excitation voltage closed-loop control of IGBT rectifier circuitand establishes the excitation control system simulation platform. At last, measuressynchronous motors V curve through the experiment and fittes it in MATLAB environment;In DSPTMS320LF2812chip for the control core to the experiment the workbench debuggesand validates the thyristor rectifier circuit of the synchronous motor excitation system andobtains a result of the synchronous motor energy saving through the experimental data.The simulation results and experimental results show that changing synchronous motorload and excitation voltage can change the motor power factor to achieve the effect of energy saving; and draw IGBT rectifier excitation system than the thyristor rectifier excitation systemresponse speed faster, more sensitive regulation and control performance more good, the netside current of PWM rectifier is sine waves which can run in the unit power factor andharmonic content is small. Thus PWM rectifier can achieve better energy saving effect.
