Research On The Present Utility Of Underground Architecture Along East Avenue In Ming City, Xi’an City

Based on the Shaanxi education department’s scientific research program ofresearch on the utility and rational exploitation of underground space in Xi’an, thisresearch takes the underground architecture in East Street, which means the inner regionof city wall and the present center of Xi’an city, as the subject. In a comprehensive way,it investigates the present utility, composition form, function need, the focus content ofexploitation and restraining elements of underground architecture along east street inXi’an, aiming to provide theoretical proofs to the continuous development and utility ofunderground architecture of east avenue in Xi’an.With the development of economy and technology, the urbanization is speeding up.There is no doubt that the exploitation of underground architecture is the most effectiveway to improve the city volume. And the higher rate of underground exploitation meansthe higher rate of city space utility.Through searching and studying the history and current situation of undergroundarchitecture from home and abroad, the author comprehend the relative theory ofunderground space and underground architecture in a depth. And according to the dataacquired from the investigation on the spot, the author proposes feasible measures andrules on exploitation and utility of underground space.It can be concluded from this research that it is high time to explore and utilize theunderground space of Xi’an. And the utility and exploitation of east street is still in theearlier state, only stick to the long term city layout,utilize the underground spaceresource, can the underground architecture be effectively used, furthermore, thedevelopment of city can be well performed. At the end of research, it proposes some problems that acquired from thequantitative analysis on the above ground and underground space resources, indicatingthat the underground resource is not well used and is too far to meet the demands of cityconstruction.. While, as the city development of is soaring, the exploitation ofunderground space is extremely needed. And the focus on the underground architectureshould be sequenced in the following order, namely the underground commercialentertainment facilities, underground public traffic system, underground pubic facilitiesand static traffic facilities.
