The new type plain steel-plate and concrete composite hollow slabs werecomposed of common steel plate, internal hollow model and concrete connected withsteel PBL shear connection. With using of plain steel plate and internal hollow model, the composite slabs have lots of advantage such as light-weight, sound-proofed andconstructing easily for without bottom forms, therefore, this type of composite slabshave very wildly prospect for engineering application.Experiments of six specimens of such composite slabs were conducted to studythe mechanical behaviors. Based on the experimental results, the influences of thenominal shear-span of the slabs were studied. During the experimental process, thefailure modes, the steel plate and concrete strains development, types of cracking, interface slippage and bend and shear bearing capacity of the decks were focused.Based on the results of the experimental study, the calculation methods for thebend-bearing capacity, the flexural rigidity and the shear-bearing capacity of thecomposite decks were proposed. The result of the proposed calculation methodsagreeed quite well with experimental result. The research results of the article provideexperiment and theory basis and reference for actual project application of this newtype of composite slab.
