Tower is one of the main components of the turbine. Due to its high maintenancecosts,the quality and safety become very important. The design level will influence theperformance and reliability of the wind turbine. One of the most important thing is thedesign of the tower’s stability and check and buckling analysis,, which is one of theimpact parameters in the process of the tower structure optimization and lightweightdesign, so the calculation of the stability of the tower, buckling analysis has a veryimportant practical value and significance..The following is the main research content of the article:①The local tower component model was abstracted from the viewpoint of themanufacturing process, tower material properties and structural statics: the introductionof the overall mechanical model (elastoplastic struts), and then the introduction of thelocal tower component nearly true model (non-stiffener welding cylindrical shell).②Nonlinear elastic-plastic buckling theory was analyzed, the static stabilityanalysis and calculation, the difference between strength and stability analysis, as wellas the residual stress effects was investigated based on the abstract model.③The article got the defect reduction factor based on the three modern bucklingtheories. Based on analysis of existing experimental data, and consideration of thematerial nonlinearity and residual stress on the elastic buckling strength, the use ofwelding residual stress of the cylindrical shell calculation of the diagram, in accordancewith the tangent modulus theory to determine the elastic modulus reduction factor.Combined with the measured data to establish the formula of the axial andcircumferential stiffening under pressure welding to the buckling stress of cylindricalshells ring.④Tower stability calculation and analysis were made with the help of the finiteelement software analysis technology, Pro/E, HyperMesh, MSC.Patran/Nastran andother software. Make use of the critical axial buckling stress formula established by thearticle. It was found that the cylindrical shell is indeed jump balance of form andposition and there is the lower critical value by example calculation. It was shown thatthe result of the finite element simulation was three times as that by engineeringcalculations. It indicted that the established formulas and comparative parametersanalysis combined with finite element software have very practical reference value.
