The tower is a main support equipment of wind turbine. It joins the generator and the ground and provides altitude for the impeller. The design of the structure system has been introduced primarily from the overseas. There is no unification design regulations standard for wind turbine tower at home yet. Along with the maximization of wind turbine tower in our country, it is necessary to carry on the exhaustive analysis for the windward electricity tower structure and then lay the foundation for establish our country's design regulations standard.The taper cylinder tower of some approved wind generator set of the Inner Mongolian Bayan Obo wind electric plant was taken as the object of study. The stress, the modality and the flexure of the tower were analyzed by using the large-scale finite element software SAP2000. And the stress in the tower bottom, the displacement in the tower top, the first-order natural frequency and the first-order flexure factor which affect the tower performance were carried on the index evaluation. Finally the optimization design for the tower was carried on the preliminary discussion by taking these index control value, the tower wall thickness and the tower mass as the constraints, the design variable and the objective function.The research indicated: the influence of the cut-out wind speed work condition should be the key consideration when carries on the stress and the flexure analysis to the tower; the influence to the tower basis stress, the displacement in the tower top as well as the natural frequency is very small, but the influence to the buckling destroys is big, thus the influence of the door opening cannot be neglected when carries on the tower flexure analysis; the displacement in the tower top is closest to be apart from the control displacement, it is confirmed through the optimization design that the displacement in the tower top is the guide posts for this type tower design; After the optimization, saves steel products 12% and serves the optimization purpose.Through the finite element analysis and the optimization design, all indexes are far less than the control value. After the optimization, it is considerable to save the steel products quantity. There is the necessity for this type tower to carry on further research and the optimization design.
