The vehicle handling and stability is one of the car’s performances, whichconcerns mainly driving safety and ride comfort of vehicle, and suspension K&Ccharacteristics have important influence on vehicle control stability. Traditionalmethod to research manipulation stability is through prototype trial and constantlyroad simulation test, which are not only cost-effective but the design cycle is long. Inaddition, some trials exists security factors. On the other hand, along with thedevelopment of the virtual prototype, computer simulation analysis has been used inmanipulation stability study more and more, and some auxiliary design means makethe analysis, optimization and improvement of car performance parameters moreeasily.The paper launches research in view of the suspension K&C characteristic andthe vehicle steering stability, which applies multi-body system dynamics theory andresearch methods, using multi-body system dynamics analysis software ADAMS,combining with mini chassis platform development project of a domestic enterprise.Rigid-flexible front coupling steering suspension, multi-link rigid axle suspension andvehicle model based on ADAMS/Car are also established in the paper. The K&Ccharacteristics of standard car is tested on the single axis suspension K&Ccharacteristics test-bed developed by vehicle dynamic simulation state key laboratoryin Jilin University,which include suspension movement characteristics in parallelwheel bump and roll conditions. Contrasting simulation results of the design car withtest results of the standard car, the results are mainly identical. The paper alsodiscusses the significance of suspension stiffness and roll stiffness on vehicle controlstability, verifying the contribution of the sprig and control roll bar to whole rollstiffness by calculation.Based on the completed vehicle dynamic model, steer step inputs simulation,steer wheel angle input pulses, steering wheel return ability in low speed, steady statesimulation test are simulated according to GB/T6323-1994.Then according toQC/T480-1999, the paper evaluates the simulation score, the experimental resultsshow that the design car have good under-steer performance, returnabilityperformance, sensitivity and response performance. But score value of roll is low, tirecornering stiffness and matching of suspension roll stiffness is still to be adjusted inthe further design. In order to fully understand the car driving performance, the subject probe thebraking stability in separation road surface, straight line acceleration, brakingperformance and comfort on bump road surface, the simulation results show thedesigning car have good braking stability,"anti-dive" performance," anti-squat"performance and the ride comfort.
