As the development of economy and progress of society, the consumption of traditional energy has brought great challenge to sustainable development of human beings. The new energy as solar energy which is pollution free and renewable is getting more attention from people. The Solar photovoltaic (PV) grid is the main tendency of the use of solar energy.In these years, the PV grid is developing rapidly and the research of grid-connected PV inverter becomes more and more popular. The effectiveness is main factor of a PV inverter. Because the output power of PV arrays will significantly change with the changes of weather conditions, we should make the PV arrays always work at the maximum power point.In this paper, the mathematical model and the output characteristics of PV cells have been studied. Then on the basis of comparisons of conventional maximum power point tracking algorithm and algorithm under partial shading conditions, the incremental conductance method with a checking procedure is selected as the main control strategy. And then the topology of main circuit of system is determined, so do the other hardware circuit of system. Finally, maximum power point tracking algorithm of the system is simulated with Matlab/Simulink. The effectiveness and preciseness of maximum power point tracking system is proved by the results of the experiments.
