The research on physical mechanical properties and engineering application ofrecycled coarse aggregate has made some progress in our country,but which ismainly focused on application in cement concrete. Along with the development oftraffic construction in China, considering the good performance of asphalt pavementand the situation that construction waste should be used resourcefully,it has highpractical value and great significance in environmental protection for the research ofrecycled coarse aggregate used in asphalt concrete.On the basis of existing researches both at home and abroad,this paper studyphysical mechanical and chemical properties of recycled coarse aggregate applied toasphalt pavement. Specifically, main contents are as follows:(1) Physical mechanical and chemical properties of recycled coarse aggregatefrom seven different sources,including apparent relative density,water absorptionrate,crush value, Los Angeles abrasion value and asphalt adhesion have been tested.The reason for difference of properties of different sources have been analyzed andgiven, properties of recycled coarse aggregate are compared with specifiedcorresponding value in technical regulations of recycled aggregate application at thesame time.(2) Because physical and mechanical properties of recycled coarse aggregate areweaker than natural aggregate, this research choose two typical representativeaggregate to carry out three batches of dens-graded asphalt mixture design.(3) Marshall test of asphalt mixture containing different recycled coarseaggregate are carried out based on Chinese specification,optimum contents of asphaltin mixture are decided according to Marshall parameters such as stability,flow,voidand so on,reason for difference of optimum asphalt contents in mixture are analyzed.(4) Road performances of asphalt mixtures mixed with different kinds of recycledcoarse aggregates are evaluated through results of experiments including stabilityunder high temperature, anti-cracking ability under low temperature, moisturestability and indirect tensile results.(5) The requirements for production and application of recycled coarse aggregatein asphalt mixture are regulated through results in this paper.The study about recycled coarse aggregate used in asphalt pavement is in initialstage and has some advance in China,it will promote development of transportationconstruction. At the same time, recycled coarse aggregate belongs to circular economy industry, which will play great significance on conserving natural resources,preventing pollution and promoting sustainable development.
