With the rapid development of aerospace technology, the reusable aerospace aircraft has become aresearch focus in the transportation system between ground and space with great strategic significance.Aerospace aircraft will suffer a series of problems resulting from aerodynamic heating inevitablyduring reentry and flying with a hypersonic speed. So the thermal protection system (TPS) becomesone of key technologies in the development of aerospace aircraft. The integrated structure is a new typeof TPS. It can not only subject to the mechanical load, but also be suited to be used as a coolant tunnelof hot structure to increase the efficient of the structure and to decrease the weight.A new type of aerospace aircraft and its TPS was designed. The study was performed to developan understanding of the fluid—thermal—structural analysis and parameter optimization of foldedstructure used in the thermal protection system on the aerospace aircraft. The conceptual design and theTPS design of aerospace aircraft Obiter Salvor are presented. Next,2-D FEM models for fluid andthermal analysis are built with in the software ANSYS/FLOTRAN. By the fluid-thermal couplinganalysis, the velocity distribution and the temperature distribution are obtained. Then the convectionheat transfer coefficients have been gained. The analyzing results show the relationship between fluidand structural parameters with the convection heat transfer coefficients. Then a3D model was built forfluid-thermal-structure coupling analysis. The result showed some characters of3D fluid in the foldedstructure. Parameters of the3D folded structure are optimized. In the end, the composite pipe trussstructure is analyzed under the structural and thermal load, and the truss structure is optimized. Theconceptual design of Obiter Salvor and the structure research on new type TPS can be used foraerospace aircrafts’ design.
