The launch technology of carrier-based aircraft is of great importance in future warfare. In thispaper ramp launch and catapult launch, known as two typical launch technologies of carrier-basedaircraft, are studied. Firstly the characteristics of ramp launch and catapult launch are respectivelyanalyzed then the comparison of the two kinds of launch methods is discussed. In modeling parts the whole process of ramp launch and catapult launch are respectively studied. The launch process is divided into two parts which are the speeding stage in the carrier and theclimbing stage in the air. In the speeding stage for ramp launch the most essential part is the modelingof the motion in ramp deck and the solutions of those equations; for catapult launch the main work isabout the modeling of steam catapult and electromagnetic catapult. In the climbing stage, the flightsystems of attitude control are established respectively for ramp launch and catapult launch. In themoment of the leaving carrier of airplane, the effect on the climbing rate of airplane from the deckmovement is analyzed in order to find out an appropriate moment for airplane to take off.In the process of control methods designing for ramp launch the control law is a bit morecomplex because a feedback of angle of attack should be adding into the controller to stabilize theangle of attack; For catapult launch the influence of the gust disturbance in the climbing stage is alsodiscussed. The results of simulation show that the designed control laws can make good effects so thatthe security of both ramp launch and catapult launch is enhanced. The technology of scene simulation of catapult launch is researched. Based on the3D modelsand aircraft models provided by Flightgear software, the scene simulation is completed by theinterface program of Matlab and Flightgear, with the numerical models in Matlab being principal part.In the process of scene simulation, the3D models of the aircraft are reconstructed and the interfaceprogram of Matlab and Flightgear is updated so that the flight trajectory is controlled by the numericalmodel in Simulink. Also, the3D model of catapult is eventually visible after the C++source programsof Flightgear are modified. The simulation result shows that this technology is a good method tocomplete the transition from numerical models to3D models.
